Frequently asked questions

Honest answers to what people actually ask. If your question is missing, write to us.

Is Argos an antivirus?

No. Argos replaces neither Windows Defender nor other security software. It watches whether your existing protection is switched on and working. Think of it as an inspection, not a guard dog.

What data does Argos send, and what does it not send?

Argos sends status about the computer’s settings: whether the firewall is on, when the last backup ran, and the like. It never sends your files, documents, photos, browser history or keystrokes. The full list is in the privacy policy.

Does Argos monitor what employees do?

No. Argos looks at the machine’s security settings, not at people. There is no screen recording, no logging of application use and no browser history. That is a deliberate choice, and we are not changing it.

Which computers does Argos work on?

Argos is built for Windows 10 (version 1903 or later) and Windows 11. Mac and Linux are not supported in the first version. Argos also checks whether your Windows version still gets security updates from Microsoft. If you have bought Extended Security Updates (ESU) for Windows 10, Argos cannot see that, so the check will show red. You can then mark it as ignored with the reason ESU.

Does Argos require technical skills?

No, that is the whole point. Argos installs like an ordinary program, and every message is written in plain language without jargon. When you can fix something yourself, a button takes you to the right place in Windows.

What happens when Argos finds a problem?

You get a message explaining what was found, why it matters and how to fix it. Findings are prioritised: red must be fixed now, amber should be looked at, and everything green can be left in peace.

Does Argos use a lot of resources?

No. The agent runs as a quiet background service, and the checks are light. You will not notice it in daily use.

When can I buy Argos?

Argos is in its final development phase. There is no public launch date yet, but you can sign up as a pilot customer and get access before everyone else.

What does being a pilot customer mean?

You get Argos before launch, try it in your everyday life and tell us what works and what does not. The pilot is free and lasts 2-3 months, and you get direct contact with the person who builds Argos. Afterwards you decide whether to continue.

What does Argos cost?

We expect to launch at 49 kr a month incl. VAT for a household and from 29 kr per computer excl. VAT for businesses. The pilot is free. See the pricing page for details.
