A quiet agent that watches the settings that decide how easy your Windows computer is to break into.

What Argos is

Argos is a Windows service that runs in the background and continuously checks the basic security state of the computer: whether protection is switched on, whether doors are left open, and whether maintenance is being kept up.

The check itself is not the point. The point is that the result is translated into plain language, prioritised by severity and followed by a concrete action: a button that opens the right place in Windows so you can fix it yourself in a minute.

Argos is not an antivirus. It does not replace Windows Defender; it watches whether Defender and the rest of your protection are actually switched on.

One glance, and you know where you stand

The dashboard shows status in three layers: what needs action now, what should be looked at, and everything that is simply fine. The colors mean something: red must be fixed, amber should be looked at, green is calm.

What Argos checks

Eight checks covering the most exploited weaknesses on an ordinary Windows computer.

  1. Windows Defender and firewall

    Is protection enabled, on every network profile? A firewall that only covers the home network does not cover the office.

  2. Passwords

    How old are the account passwords, and are there accounts with no expiry at all?

  3. Remote access

    Are Remote Desktop or other remote access connections left open? It is one of the most exploited ways in.

  4. Backup

    Is your backup actually running, or did it quietly stop three months ago?

  5. Windows Update

    Is the system up to date, and are updates installed automatically?

  6. Disk encryption

    Is the disk encrypted with BitLocker, so a stolen computer does not also mean stolen data?

  7. Screen lock

    Does the screen lock itself when the computer is left unattended?

  8. General maintenance

    The small things that accumulate over time: disk space, system health, items that need a hand.

Status: close to launch

Argos is in its final development phase and cannot be downloaded yet. We are looking for pilot customers who want to try the product before launch and help shape it. As a pilot customer you get direct contact with the developer and special terms when the product launches.
